Over the last few years, more and more businesses have been getting into internet marketing. But successful internet marketing takes a lot more than simply having a nifty company website. Online consumers have grown to expect every business to have a cutting edge website that is highly informative, user friendly, mobile friendly, and just looks cool. The most successful companies of the future will be the ones that exhibit the most innovation, and possess the most technological savvy.
Studies show that about half of businesses believe that social media marketing can be effective for their business. However, less than three quarters of businesses used social media sharing tools during 2012; and you can bet that many of them who did use social media tools for marketing purposes did not use them to their full advantage. This is apparent simply in the fact that half of businesses do not consider it a helpful marketing tool, when it can be, and has been, highly effective.
According to internet marketing experts, 86 percent of social media referrals can be attributed to Facebook, 11 percent to Pinterest, and 3 percent to Twitter. As for the businesses that utilized social media sharing tools, over half of them claimed to have gained customers as a result.
The thing is, social media sharing tools are so pervasive that social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest make it easy to reach hundreds of thousands of potential customers every day. That being said, it is mind boggling to think that 50 percent of businesses do not view social media sites as valuable marketing tools. But the fact is, the best social media tools can be more effective for marketing, and are significantly less expensive, than other forms of media advertising.
In this day and age, if businesses want to remain relevant five or ten years down the line, they need to get with it, and weigh all of their options. This means taking a long, hard look at the many ways that social media can be adapted to online marketing purposes. After all, now that Facebook has approximately 1.15 billion users worldwide, it is clearly a social media sharing tool worth looking into.
